Charlestown Community Kitchen

The Charlestown Community Kitchen is a place for women to come together and promote nutrition, health and wellness, shared in a spirit of cooperation and diversity.

Previously held Friday afternoons at 123 Charles Street, and overseen by staff, students, and community women on a volunteer basis.

A meal is prepared and provided, and food, donated by the Partners in Mission Food Bank, Loving Spoonful and Food Rescue Canada, is given away to each woman after lunch. They receive fresh vegetables, dairy products, a variety of frozen foods, snack food and much more.

Community Gardens

The Community Gardens provide various seasonal vegetables and herbs incorporated into the meal prepared each week. Women learn how to prepare healthy, tasty and nutritious meals on a budget; develop safe food handling skills; build confidence in cooking and feel more comfortable in the kitchen; exchange recipes; develop friendships and share ideas and expertise with other women from the community.
