Women Empowered Hub

The Women Empowered Hub is an innovative, safe and positive space for self-identified women aged 18 and over in Kingston and the surrounding area. The objective is to provide women with proper supports, resources and basic needs skills, as well as to advance the confidence and connections to maintain those supports and developments in their independent living.

We create a scheduled monthly calendar and newsletter that identifies the consistent rotation of program offerings including exciting announcements for the month, take-away items and special workshops operated by community partners.

Women's Economic Literacy and Leadership Program

The W.E.L.L. Program is an 8-10 week program focusing on financial literacy, and leadership skills that facilitate women's participation, both economically and socially. The program promotes self-sufficiency, self confidence, community participation, and financial independence, allowing women to build on their strengths to mentor and, in turn, lead others. There is a formal intake process for this program premised on a referral and a self-identified premise, including an assessment form and official letter of acceptance to the program.

Taking Control: Making Healthy Relationship Choices

The Taking Control-Making Healthy Relationship Choices program is a twelve-week, gender-specific program used to empower and raise the consciousness of violence against women with continuous intake. This program can be facilitated individually or in a group. It aims to help women understand domestic violence, focusing on the social and political sources of violence against women and emphasizes the power and control dynamic.

Moving Forward: Creating Lasting Change

The Moving Forward: Creating Lasting Change program is funded by the Ministry of Safety and Community Corrections. The program educates and empowers women to create changes in their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours to improve their overall quality of life and decrease criminal activity. The program's outcome is the development of new skills (stress management techniques, goal setting, relapse prevention, mindfulness, etc.) through education and practice to maintain change over time.
